National Volunteer Week

At Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services, we are thrilled to join Canadians in celebrating National Volunteer Week, April 19–25, 2026, under the inspiring theme Ignite Volunteerism. This year aligns with the United Nations’ International Year of Volunteers, marking a once-in-a-generation opportunity to renew and elevate Canada’s culture of civic participation.

For over six decades, Sunbeam has relied on the passion and dedication of volunteers to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families across Ontario. From supporting daily programs and community events to fostering inclusion and meaningful connections, our volunteers truly ignite positive change—one act of kindness at a time.

This week, we honour the spark our volunteers bring to neighbourhoods in Kitchener-Waterloo, Peel, Halton, York, Simcoe, and beyond. Their time, talents, and compassion help build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone belongs.

Thank you to every Sunbeam volunteer for igniting volunteerism in our shared world. Your impact matters deeply—now and always. Interested in joining us? Visit sunbeamcommunity.ca/volunteer to find your thing and make a difference.
