(Kitchener, ON): Participants in the Sunbeam Centre’s Day program here in Waterloo Region are once again hard at work to bring smiles to others. After a successful program this past winter where clients organized the donation of knit hats for infants to bring awareness to the risks of shaking babies in partnership with the Palmerston Hospital, there was a desire to do more.
The Day Program clients discovered that the hospital also provides new stuffed animals to children receiving care, and wanted to get involved. Until July 14th the Day Program is hosting a Teddy Bear Drive, to gather bears to provide to Palmerston Hospital patients. New teddy bears (or stuffed animals) with tags on and not larger than 18 inches in height are being accepted by donation at Sunbeam Centre, located at 2749 Kingsway Drive in Kitchener, Day Program entrance, Monday to Friday from 8-4 pm (a donation bin is located to the left of the pool entrance). Teddy Bear donations are being accepted until July 14th, with an anticipated delivery in early August.
Currently, the Day Program has collected 70 new Teddy Bears, with a goal of 100.The Day Program Teddy Bear Drive organizing team is made up of Melissa, Cory, Amy, Lisa, David, Alissa, and Nick, with generous support from Michelle, Nicole and Giselle, as well as all of those attending the day program. This team has done it all, from ensuring that the right type of stuffed animals are being collected, to baking goods as a thank you to our supporters!
With just a few days left to collect Teddy Bears, you’ll want to act fast to help the Sunbeam Centre participants bring smiles to the children of the Palmerston Hospital!
