Meet Mary!
Mary’s story is one of resilience, connection, and building a life she is proud of.
At 18, Mary joined Sunbeam’s Host Family Home Program through the Transitional-Aged Youth (TAY) Coordination Program, which helps youth transition out of provincial child protection services. For years, she thrived in a supportive and nurturing environment with her host family.
When her host family moved away in 2023, Mary faced a big challenge: finding a new home while staying connected to the community she loved. By early 2024, Mary moved into a new family home – and she hasn’t looked back since.
Today, Mary is thriving – embracing her passions, giving back to her community, and exploring new opportunities for personal growth.
Twice a week, she’s “Miss Mary” to her preschool students as an assistant educator
She volunteers weekly at a community health hub, packing meal kits for her neighbours
She enjoys collecting eggs, skating, and playing ball hockey with her neighbours
Now 28, Mary is an integral part of her community and a shining example of how love and support can transform lives. She’s proud of the person she’s become – and so are we!
