National Volunteer Week At Sunbeam
It’s #NationalVolunteerWeek, and here at Sunbeam, we want to take a moment to recognize the volunteers who make such a meaningful impact on our organization.
Volunteers are at the heart of positive change, creating ripples that are spread throughout our community. Their dedication and compassion help us build a better world, one kind act of kindness at a time.
Making waves today and every day, we celebrate the amazing volunteers who make a difference in the Sunbeam Community and beyond.
Read about some of our incredible volunteers:
Meet Ethan!

Ethan is a volunteer at Sunbeam’s Seating Clinic, and is also a student of Kinesiology who aims to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.
His journey with Sunbeam began with an interest in the organization’s diverse and inclusive approach to supporting others. However, it wasn’t long before Ethan became motivated by the incredible staff at the Seating Clinic, whom he has named the “wizards.” He coined this nickname due to their extraordinary ability to modify the most minute details to empower Sunbeam clients to lead comfortable lives.
Outside of volunteering, Ethan is a lifelong sports enthusiast. From coaching to playing, he lives and breathes a healthy, active life. He also enjoys video editing, finding immense satisfaction in the creative process.
Ethan’s experience at Sunbeam has deepened his understanding of the diverse needs within the community and reaffirmed his passion for giving back.
“Being able to support this amazing staff and organization is equipping me with the tools I will need for my own future goals and aspirations,” he shares.
Meet Connor!

Connor is a dedicated third-year Psychology student who joined Sunbeam as a Pool Aide Volunteer in 2025, but initially volunteered at Sunbeam as a part of his community service during high school.
Connor has found a sense of true purpose in his work at Sunbeam. What started as an interest in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities has blossomed into an experience of expanded understanding and appreciation of his community and commitment to service.
Since joining Sunbeam, Connor has learned that there is so much more to individuals with developmental disabilities than what society assumes, which has sparked his lasting desire to keep helping those in need.
Though Connor is considering Law School, he is equally as passionate about pursuing a career in therapy or working in community support with the hope of making a long-term impact.
In addition to volunteering and academia, Connor is also a published poetry author, a lover of dance, drama and Dungeons and Dragons.
This National Volunteer Week, and every day, we recognize the incredible individuals who give their time, talents, and heart to Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services.
From hands-on program support to community advocacy — and including our volunteer Board of Directors — your dedication strengthens our mission and helps build more inclusive, person-centred communities.
Your impact is meaningful, lasting, and deeply valued.
Thank you for being such an important part of the Sunbeam family.
Happy #NationalVolunteerWeek
