Meet Simone!

Simone has been a dedicated member of the Sunbeam team for 9.5 years. She began her journey at Vos/Whaley and soon transitioned into Day Program and Respite services. Throughout her career, she has found deep joy in the small, meaningful moments shared with the individuals she supports—whether reading a favourite book, playing Uno, hosting a disco bubble-wrap floor party, or celebrating at dances organized by the Recreation and Leisure team.

In February 2025, she stepped into the role of Behaviour Support Worker (B.S.W.) at Norman Lane/Bridgeport. In this role, she brings years of experience, professionalism, and creativity to foster a positive, fun, and supportive environment for both the individuals she supports and her co-workers. While she offers guidance and stability, she recognizes that she is also constantly learning from the connections with supported individuals.

Her time at Norman Lane/Bridgeport has been filled with laughter and joy—more than she ever imagined in just 11 short months. Each day brings something new, and that unpredictability is what makes the work so rewarding. She embraces being her authentic self at work, including her playful and light-hearted nature, which helps create a welcoming and joyful atmosphere.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and volunteering in children’s ministry at her church.

“Sunbeam is more than a workplace to me, it is a community where I feel privileged to support, learn, and grow alongside the individuals I serve. Every day reminds me why I chose this field, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that values compassion, connection and finding joy in the everyday moments. “
