Meet Linda!

At Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services, our team members are the heart of everything we do. Today, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on Linda, a remarkable Community Living Services (CLS) direct support worker at our Rothsay group home in Kitchener.

For 23 incredible years, Linda has been a dedicated and unwavering employee with Sunbeam, providing compassionate care, daily support, and meaningful assistance with activities of daily living. Her work directly enhances the quality of life for the individuals we serve, helping them thrive in a supportive, home-like environment.

What truly sets Linda apart is her genuine love for the people she supports. “I love spending time with the individuals I serve,” she shares. “Watching them strive, grow, and enjoy new experiences is one of the best parts of my work.”

One of her favourite ways to foster that growth and joy? Planning engaging activities—especially Cooking Wednesdays! Linda teams up with her “partner in crime” (our other day staff member) to plan meals collaboratively. The individuals get to choose what’s on the menu and actively help prepare lunch. The pride on their faces as they admire what they’ve created—and the delight as they enjoy the food together—never fails to warm her heart.

“Seeing them take pride in what they’ve made, and watching them enjoy the food they helped create, fills my heart with joy,” Linda says with a smile.

When asked about her most memorable moments, Linda finds it impossible to pick just one. Over more than two decades at Sunbeam, she’s been touched by countless life lessons from both the residents and her coworkers. “Throughout the years at Sunbeam, many residents and coworkers have given me life lessons and helped me love my job even more,” she reflects. “I constantly learn things from my co-workers and the people we serve.” These ongoing moments of connection and mutual growth keep her inspired every day.

Outside of her rewarding role at the Rothsay group home, Linda’s passions align beautifully with her caring nature. Her favourite hobbies include helping everyone (a true reflection of her everyday work!), cooking (no surprise there!), and travelling to explore new places and experiences.

Linda, thank you for your 23 years of unwavering commitment, your infectious enthusiasm, and the countless ways you make our community brighter and more inclusive. You embody the spirit of Sunbeam—compassion, growth, and joy in every interaction. We’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of our family!
