Advocacy for Life-Saving Medication: Raneem’s Interview on CTV

At Sunbeam, we care deeply about the people we support and are a strong advocate on their support team. Recently, a story close to our hearts was covered by CTV Kitchener.

Raneem is a young girl living with a neurological condition, and liver disease and is supported through Sunbeam’s Community Living Program. Her Doctor is prescribing a medication, Cholbam, for a longer, healthier and improved life. However, the drug is not covered by the provincial drug plan and costs around $600,000 USD per year.

Her Doctors and Sunbeam have joined their advocacy efforts with Raneem’s family to appeal that the Ministry of Health provide an exception for the coverage of this life changing medication for Raneem.
