What is Autism? 

Today is World Autism Day, a global occasion of recognition highlighting a wide range of conditions that affects 1 in 50 Canadian children and youth aged 1 to 17 years.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication.

As a spectrum disorder, Autism manifests itself differently in every individual in whom it appears, but its characteristics will change over the life of each person.

At Sunbeam, we work with a wide range of individuals living with Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

For us, World Autism Day is an opportunity to raise awareness through education and offer our support to the individuals and families that need it most.
