Meet Alina!
Alina has been supported by Sunbeam since February 2017. Over the years, Sunbeam has connected her and her family to a wide range of supports, including individual counselling, parent groups, behaviour consultations, and clinics accessed at different points in time. Alina and her family have also received respite services, nursing support for health‑care consultation, and services through the Children’s Psychiatric Clinic.
Throughout this journey, the family has been supported by Service Coordination. As Alina’s needs became more complex, additional support was provided through Sunbeam’s Service Planning program, helping the family navigate and coordinate care more effectively.
Alina has the innocence and curiosity of a carefree child. She is sweet, funny, and loves learning about nature, history, and science. She experiences challenges with emotional regulation and staying safe, but she also has moments that truly amaze those around her. Alina is so much more than her disability.
With the support of Sunbeam, Alina’s family is able to support her in ways that help her thrive on her own terms.
Through Sunbeam, the family has also been connected to broader community resources, including school advocacy, mental health appointments at CPRI, referrals to additional services, and support during times of crisis. Coordinated Service Planning at Sunbeam is like the roots and branches of a tree—connecting the family to the many supports that help them grow, stay grounded, and move forward together.
