World Down Syndrome Day 2026

World Down Syndrome Day, observed annually on March 21, is a global celebration of people with Down syndrome and a call for greater inclusion and rights.

This year’s theme, “Together against loneliness”. Everyone indeed feels lonely sometimes. But for many people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness is a more common and painful experience.

The answer to loneliness: It’s about having good friendships and relationships. It’s the feeling of being valued and knowing you belong.

Canadians wear lots of blue and yellow—the official colours—or participate in local gatherings to World Down Syndrome Day reminds us that with equal opportunities, people with Down syndrome thrive, enriching society through their unique perspectives and talents.

At Sunbeam, we actively recognize World Down Syndrome Day and reaffirm our ongoing commitment to celebrating the strengths, rights, and vibrant contributions of individuals with Down syndrome throughout the year.
