Meet Janet

If you’ve spent any time around DSO, chances are you’ve felt the impact of Janet Barton. For more than 12 years, she’s brought steady guidance, genuine care, and a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate important transitions.

Janet joined Sunbeam, specifically working with the DSO department, in 2012 as an Intake/Transition Coordinator, supporting youth as they moved from high school back into the community. Her strong relationships with local school boards and service agencies helped strengthen the pathways and partnerships that continue to serve families today.

One of Janet’s standout achievements was co-creating the Inspire Accessibility Showcase in Halton Region, an annual event featuring 60+ vendors offering services for people living with developmental disabilities. With over 300 attendees each year, the showcase made it easier for families, caregivers, and applicants to explore community options in one welcoming space. From expert speakers to hands-on activities like drumming circles and cooking, it became a highlight for many, including Janet.

In 2019, she stepped into her current role as Scheduler. Over the last six years, she has continued supporting applicants and families with the same thoughtfulness, problem-solving skills, and heart that have defined her time at DSO and Sunbeam.

Fun fact you might not expect:
Janet once starred as Mrs. White in a local theatre production of Clue!

Thank you, Janet, for everything you bring to the Sunbeam community.
