As some Waterloo region homes for people with developmental disabilities gear up to vaccinate residents, advocates say others are falling through the cracks in the system.

Paula Spengen says it has been “heart-wrenching” for her and her husband Ben to be separated from their 35-year-old daughter Rebecca, who lives in a Sunbeam Community and Developmental Services home.

The Provincial Network on Developmental Services has asked Dr. Williams to respond to the inequity occurring in prioritization process within Ontario Public Health as it relates to vaccinating those individuals with developmental disabilities living in congregate care settings and their care providers.
